OPPORTUNITY TO VOLUNTEER AT YAL
 
WHAT IS YAL?
YAL is a national youth development NGO established since 2012, and was accredited in 2013 by the Government of Liberia through the ministries of Finance & Development Planning and Youth & Sports as a national youth driven NGO. YAL empowers, educates and elevates local young people through skills development, participation in civic responsibilities, advocating for the protection of youth/human rights, peacebuilding initiatives and promoting reproductive health education for peer youth in Montserrado, Bong and Margibi counties.
 
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:
Since March 2019, YAL opened its Operational Office in the Red Hill Field Community to begin operations in youth development and community empowerment programs. With plan to explore partnership opportunities with related NGOs, INGOs, CBOs, FBOs, DPOs, CSOs, women and youth-led organizations, foreign missions and embassies in Liberia and expand program coverage in communities across other counties, YouthAid-Liberia now solicit applications from two candidates for the following voluntary positions: Administrative Assistant and Program Officer. These volunteers will be recruited and placed in Administrative/Finance and Grant/Program Management Units respectively.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
  1. Responsible for the coordination of YAL’s Office and execution of administrative tasks
  2. Serves as the Liaison Person between YAL and partner organizations
  3. Receives and dispatches correspondences between YAL and partner organizations
  4. Procures and maintains office supplies and logistics
  5. Assists YAL’s Management Team in planning, coordinating and executing program activities
  6. Ensures effective and efficient reporting and record management systems
  7. Ensures that YAL’s Office is kept cleaned and organized
 
PROGRAM OFFICER
1.   Helps the Senior Program Manager in daily program management, including program planning, organizing and executing activities
2.   Helps the Senior Program Manager in project planning and management
3.   Conducts research on grant and fund raising opportunities for programs and projects
4.   Assist the Senior Program Manager in Proposal writing, Planning and implementing strategies  
5.   Helps prepare quarterly reports of YAL operations in consultation with the Senior Program Manager
6.   Assists the Senior Program Manager in preparing Strategic Frameworks, Annual Work Plan, quarterly and annually narrative reports
7.   Liaises with the Senior Program Manager and YAL partner organizations for grant, program and project applications and awards.
8.   Perform other tasks as may be assigned by the YAL’s Management Team

 
OPPORTUNITY REQUIREMENTS:
PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE ARE VOLUNTARY POSITIONS. THEREFORE, ONLY STIPEND FOR TRANSPORTATION WILL BE PROVIDED. 
1. Applicants MUST be residents of District #17
2. Applicants must be within the age ranges of 15 – 35.
3. Volunteers must be university students or graduates  
3. Other Professional Qualifications are encouraged.

4. Proficiency in Oral and Written English
5. Basic computer skills in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
