The Youth Plus Project
Between July and August, 2018, YAL’s Executive Director along with a local staff participated in the 5th West Africa Human Rights and Drug Policy Executive Course at the University of Ghana, School of Law. The intensive one week training was funded by the OSIWA, Open Society Foundations and University of Ghana, School of Law which brought together 36 West Africans involved in NGO, CSOs, Public Health, Human Rights and Drug Policy programs in their various countries.
 
As per knowledge sustainability strategy, YouthAid-Liberia has designed a Project title “The Youth Plus Project” under the theme “Say No to Drug, Say Yes to Youth”, with thematic focus on youth awareness, human rights and drug abuse education and prevention, the Project will enable YAL to embark on conversations with stakeholders (young people, drug abused victims in the ghettos, policy makers, and public health practitioners) to discuss drug, its impacts, control and prevention mechanisms, drug policies in Liberia and human rights violations against drug users and will create advocacy strategies for rehabilitation and treatment solutions for problematic drug users in Liberia.


The CAAP Project
The Community Action Against Polio (CAAP) Project, implemented from October 23-25, 2015 was a community driven-interactive and social mobilization campaign project conducted in communities along the Logan Town and Caldwell areas. The project was implemented through the services of 10 local CAAP volunteers and community mobilizers targeting 300 baby mothers as direct beneficiaries and over 3,000 community inhabitants as indirect beneficiaries. The project was successfully implemented with funding and technical supports made available by the Liberia Immunization Platform (LIP), Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and GAVI Alliance. 
 

​THE 2014 VOTER ROLL UPDATES
On January 29, 2014, YouthAid-Liberia was also selected by the International Foundation for Electoral System [IFES] among forty four (44) national civil organizations to conduct massive citizens’ awareness on the 2014 Voter Roll Updates for the pending midterm Special Senatorial Elections scheduled by the National Elections Commission (NEC) in October. This effort was to support the National Elections Commission as a civic society organization and YouthAid-Liberia was designated to conduct the awareness in two electoral districts in Bong County (Jorquelleh and Panta-Zota). YouthAid-Liberia recruited 10 local civic and voter education officers in Bong County to enable the organization achieve this democratic and civic-oriented project.

The project ended successfully on March 22, 2014 with our donor, IFES organizing a two days Lesson Learnt Workshop in Gbarnga City, Bong County for all participating civic society organizations who had conducted civic and voter education on the 2014 Voter Roll Updates.

THE 2014 EXHIBITION ON THE PROVISION VOTER ROLL
Upon conducting awareness on the 2014 Voter Roll Updates in Bong County, YouthAid-Liberia signed a 13-days contract on April 18, 2014 to conduct civic and voter education on the 2014 Exhibition of the Provisional Voter Roll (PVR) for citizens in Jorquelleh and Panta-Zota districts in Bong County.

RADIO TALK SHOW FOR PSI
In 2013, YouthAid-Liberia was selected by the Population Service International [PSI] to serve as Youth Network on its Healthy Life Talk Show Program. Upon the arrangement, YouthAid-Liberia started to conduct health related awareness for young people on PSI Let’s Talk About Sex (LTAS) Live Show on UNMIL Radio with two representatives appearing on the show to discuss about youth unemployment, teenage pregnancy and its economic burden, issues of HIV/AIDS among young people. With this development in 2013, YouthAid-Liberia has continued to work as youth focused-network for PSI Liberia and has participated in every youthful event organized by PSI Liberia. Through this Radio Platform Show, YouthAid-Liberia has reached and impacted the lives of many young people across all segments of Liberia.

 
VOLUNTARY COMMUNITY SERVICE
Upon the establishment of YouthAid-Liberia in 2012, the organization started to organize gainful Community Empowerment Programs in few communities, especially in based community and its surrounding environs. In the first 5 months after its establishment, YouthAid-Liberia conducted a Community Cleaning, Hygiene Promotion and Sanitation project which were done by over 30 community volunteers in Topoe Village Community and its surroundings. This project was a self-starter project and was funded by the organization and some philanthropists with passions of community development under our Voluntary Community Service Program.
